MOOREVILLE – Jerry Wayne Putt, 62, died Monday, July 21, 2014, at the Community Hospice in Verona after a brief illness. He was born in Tupelo on May 30, 1952, to Jimmy Joe and Ellen Estes Putt. He was a 1972 Mooreville High School graduate. Jerry enjoyed fishing, his dogs, and he was an avid sports fan.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors with the Rev. Tim Brown officiating. Burial will be in Boguefala Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Putt of Mooreville; two stepsons, Tony Grubbs (Lori) and Keith Grubbs (Renee), both of Hernando; five grandchildren; his mother, Ellen Stroup, and his stepfather, Robert Stroup, of Mooreville; his mother-in-law, Ruby Lynchard of New Albany; two sister. Lynn Hall (Bobby) of Tupelo and Diane Kirkman (Jonathan) of Greensboro, N.C.; two stepbrothers, David and Doug Stroup, both of Bargetown, Ky.; two stepsisters, Darlene Hanson (Mike) and Dolly Smith (Chuck) of Bargetown, Ky.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Joe Putt; his first wife, Judy Putt; his grandparents, Mannie and Selma Estes, and Oscar and Virgie Putt; and one stepbrother, Donnie Stroup.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, July 23, 2014, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
