Robert Faurot Obituary

Robert Alan (Bob) Faurot, age 67, died Wednesday, December 2, 2015, in Cimarron, Ks, after a long hard fight against cancer. He was born on April 18,1948 to Robert A. and Ida Jo (Watkins) Faurot. Bob married his love and best friend, Pam Stamey, on June 8, 1979.

Bob was a Navy Veteran and was involved with the Sublette American Legion Post #205. He was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the Masonic Lodge Consistory Shrine.

Bob had a love for sports that was passed down from his father. In his early years he shot hoops for the U.S. Navy and then later played semi-pro with the Columbus Bombers. He enjoyed coaching and umpired many baseball and softball games. He also played on Carl's Bar softball team in Hutchinson. Bob was an avid watcher of sports too, especially with his favorite teams: the Kansas Jayhawks, the New York Yankees, the Boston Celtics, and the Oakland Raiders. He loved books as much as he loved sports. Any chance he could, Bob would be in the sun or by the pool listening to music and reading. But his greatest loves were his girls: Pam, Wendy and Angie, Allison and Katelyn. Spending time with his family was important to Bob and in recent years seeing his granddaughters was the best dose of medicine he could receive.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pam; two daughters, Wendy Faurot of Cimarron and Angie (Faurot) Reay and husband Christopher of Wichita Falls, Texas; his granddaughters Allison Reay and Katelyn Reay; his mother, Ida Jo (Watkins) Faurot of Sublette; a sister, Barbara (Faurot) Phoenix of Sublette; two nephews, Jason Phoenix of Sublette and Matt Phoenix of Borger, Texas; his aunt, Phyllis Brian and husband Ray of Hutchinson and family; his uncle,Dick Merz of Satanta and family; and many friends.

He is proceeded in death by his grandparents, Ed and Mabel Watkins, Harv and Clara Faurot; his father, Robert "Bob" Faurot; his brother-in-law, Jim Phoenix; two aunts, Phyllis Merz and Nina Faurot.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 7, 2015, 11:00 am at the Cimarron United Methodist Church, Cimarron, Ks. Friends are encouraged to dress casual. Interment will be at the Haskell County Cemetery at a later date. Cremation has taken place.

Suggested memorial contributions are to the Cimarron United Methodist Church, Hospice of the Prairie, "Do the Wright Thing" fundraiser, or the donor's choice, in care of Weeks Family Funeral Home & Crematory, P.O. We are so sorry to hear of Bobby's passing. I always enjoyed visiting with him when I was the Satanta Grade School secretary and he worked for " Books Are Fun." What a wonderful man who truly loved his family! He will be missed. You are In our every thought and prayer.
