Ellie Hoffmann Obituary

Hoffmann, Ellie (Eleanor)

Ellie (Eleanor) Hoffmann passed away peacefully Jan. 25, 2013, in Green Bay, Wis.

Ellie was born on Dec. 3, 1924, in Chicago, Ill., to Frank and Jeanette Anzalone (Sheriff). She married Frank Hoffmann and had three adorable children, Marilynn, Eddie and Jeanette. The family lived in Chicago, until 1962, when they relocated to Egg Harbor, Door County, Wis. In 1969, after the successful raising of The Mystery Ship, the family moved to Marinette, Wis. Ellie lived the last 20 years of her life in Green Bay, Wis.

Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Jeanette; husband, Frank; and her son, Eddie. She was survived by her sister, Jeanette Denissen; and brother, Frank Anzalone; daughters, Marilynn Hoffmann and Jeanette Burda (Michael); daughter-in-law, Donna Hoffmann (Edward); grandchildren, Ryan (Cindy), Jessica (Tim), Alisson, Gwen (Jay), Megan (Jason), Darcie (Tony) and Celeste; great-grandchildren, Madison and Melanie Ripley, Edward and Drew Shaul; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in the Chicago area.

Ellie had an infectious laugh and a smile that lit up every room she entered. She spent her life caring for her family. She was an observer of the world, loved reading and dancing, writing poetry for her children and needlepoint. She had a feisty personality with a wonderful sense of humor. She will be dearly missed each and every day by her daughters, grandchildren and all of her family. The world has lost a cherished spirit.

A celebration of Ellie's life will take place in early summer, the date and place to be announced.

The family would like to extend very special thanks to all the staff at Wyndemere Estates for their wonderful care and compassion as well as John Hansen of Hansen Funeral Home for his help during this difficult time.
