Nancy Makuen Obituary

Makuen, Nancy J.

Nancy J. Makuen, 89, of Ellison Bay, WI, passed away peacefully on November 30, at the Scandia Nursing Home in Sister Bay. She was born in Green Bay on April 5, 1925, to Raymond and Gwendolyn Leicht of Green Bay.

Nancy graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1942. She was a member of the first class to graduate from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, in 1970. She took graduate courses from the College of New Rochelle, and Southwest Florida State University, and taught English and was a guidance counselor in the schools of Green Bay, New York state, and Pennsylvania.

Nancy greatly enjoyed gardening, nature study and birding, but nothing more than visiting the National Parks, towing an RV behind her pick-up - she did most of the driving while Don studied the maps. She was also very active in the Florida Park, where she and her husband made their winter home. She was Chair of the Pool Committee, and in charge of making sure the Park Lake was being properly conserved. In Door County, Wisconsin, and in Florida, you could always find Nancy at yard sales and auctions.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Don Makuen, a brother, Raymond Leicht of Suring, Wisconsin and children, Barbara (Lou) Grishaber of New Franken, Mary Bachman of Spanish Wells, The Bahamas, John Lambeau of Suamico, and Stephen Lambeau of Green Bay. Grandchildren include Jason Bachman of Windsor, Colorado, Megan Lambeau of Green Bay, and Krista and Halle Lambeau of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and great-grandchildren, Gage and Hudson Bachman, Windsor, Colorado.

Nancy's family will hold a "Remembrance Service" for her, in the summer of 2015, at a time to be announced publicly.
