Olivia, Phil was such a great person. I have very warm memories of many family holidays spent with you and Phil.
At Christmas time, with his quintessential patience and care, Phil would spend the better part of a morning peeling and sectioning oranges destined for ambrosia. I remember Door County corn on the grill and caramel apples in the crisp fall air, in the warm glow of each other's company.
Holidays and vacations were great when you and Phil were around.
Phil's respectful, thoughtful demeanor, so different from my own, has been a grounding presence in my life. As I find myself hurrying from task to task, thinking of Phil reminds me to slow down and recognize how precioous each moment is. Patient, mindful, fun -- and so intelligent. His eyes would sparkle with facts and possibilities. I am not sure what to do now that the only dentist I trusted in the world is gone.
It seems like such a short time ago that I met Phil, that you two got married, and that he became a solid fixture in our family. Thank you so much for bringing him into our lives. He is gone way too early, and it is a reminder to us how brief and precious life is.

Mrs. Crockett, we have never met, but I was one of Phil's roommates at West Point. He was a wonderful guy and a great friend.
His life was too short, but, knowing Phil, I'm sure that he touched many lives with his special kind of caring.
I will pray for you and your family.

Please know that Phil carries on in the memories of his West Point classmates. Although we lost touch with each other over the years, my recollections of the time we spent as room-mates are as vivid as this morning. Be at peace, and God bless you and your family, Phil.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Phil's family. We met about ten years ago when I was working as a wildlife rehabilitator in North Carolina. His love of nature was a joy in his life. The world has lost a good and gentle soul who will be greatly missed.
