Guillermo "Guillo" Perez, 81 years old, passed away on November 10th, 2014 in Hayward, CA.
Guillermo was born in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico to Julia & Inocencio Perez on October 1st, 1933. He went on to serve his country in the Korean War as a chef in the Army. That experience laid the foundation for his lifelong love of preparing and sharing food with loved ones and friends. He worked as a groundskeeper at the San Lorenzo School District for 25 years and was known for his great work ethic and green thumb! He was very proud of his Puerto Rican "Jibaro" culture and for many years played guitar and performed music in a Puerto Rican band. He had a lifelong love of baseball and played during his youth in Puerto Rico and then rooted for the local teams in the Bay Area. Spending time with family was what he enjoyed most – whether it was fishing, going to ball games, visiting at home or taking trips to the local casino.
Guillermo is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carmen, plus children – Linda, Nilda "Julie", Paula, Edna, Janet, Israel, Clara, Marta - plus twenty grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all those who those who have expressed condolences. In tribute to his tremendous energy, generous spirit, sense of humor and infectious laughter the family wishes to share this quote:

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19th, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:30 PM with Vigil service at 7:00 PM; on Thursday, November 20th there will be a Visitation from 9:00 – 11:00 AM followed by the Funeral service at 11:00 AM all at Holy Angels Funeral & Cremation Center, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward, CA. Immediately following the 11:00 AM funeral service, there will be a Graveside service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
