June Stewart Obituary

June Marie Stewart
June 11,1926 - December 28,2017
Resident of Clayton
Beloved Mother, Grandmother & Friend gracefully passed into the hands of God. Born in Los Angeles to William and Anne Hork, later moving to Napa and graduating from Napa High School in 1944. She worked for the City of Napa before marrying Eugene F. Soares in 1947. They had five children, Melanie, Frank, Teresa, Donald and Bonnie and while living in the Peninsula she worked part time for General Electric Company. She lived in Ashland Oregon from 1971 to 1980, made lovely friends and attended plays at the Shakespeare Festival and worked at the City of Ashland as Cashier. On her return to San Mateo she again was employed as a Cashier at the City of San Mateo and thoroughly enjoyed her job and coworkers. She retired with a track record of "balancing to the penny" her every work day. Once retired she found a great friend and love, Stanley Stewart and married him in 1992. They enjoyed traveling through out the United States, Canada, Aruba and took four cruises. They volunteered for seven years with Meals of Wheels and Hospice of San Mateo. She moved to Clayton in 2001, became a member of St Bonaventure Parish, assisted Eucharistic Ministry at Diamond Terrace, participated as a member of Clayton Valley Women's Club and really had the time of her life as a Clayton resident. She will be remembered as devoted Catholic, gracious, content, never complaining and an endearing soul.
Left to celebrate her life are her children, Melanie Palmer, Frank Soares, wife Susan, Donald Soares, Bonnie Seck, husband Brian: Grandchildren Anne Peters, Robert Palmer, wife Alexandra, Georgia Palmer, Margaret Olivieri, husband Edward, James Palmer and wife Lauren, Jordan Dusterhoff, wife Alyssa, Keegan Seck and Kelly Seck: Great Grandchildren, Emily, Charlie, Fields, Caladonia, Poppy, Faye, Mason, Hawkins, James Jr., Dominic, Lola June, and Fiona. Two Step Daughters Carole and Cathy, their four children and grandchildren along with dozens of cherished nieces, nephews and their children.
Mom now joins her siblings, Lorene Waldron, Virginia Gertridge, William Hork, her daughter Teresa Ann, Eugene Soares and Stanley Stewart along with a host of dearly remembered relatives.
As she embraced her life, she wanted us all to remember that we are called, "To Love One Another" John 13:34-35,and to pray for the poor souls in purgatory.
Celebration of her life will be held at St. Bonaventure Parish, 5562 Clayton Road, Concord, on Wednesday, January 3, 10:00AM Rosary, 10:30AM Funeral Liturgy, followed by reception in the hall. In lieu flowers, contributions can be made to St, Bonaventure Parish, Oakmont of Monticito, Concord or Hospice of the East Bay.

I was lucky enough to know June through her beautiful daughter, Bonnie. She was a special woman. I'll miss the occasional visit to see her and share a cocktail. The funeral was lovely...if that can be said of a funeral. June's legacy will live on in her wonderful family. Rest In Peace, June.
