Sgt. Keenan Alan Wofford, 28. Funeral services for Sgt. Keenan Wofford, 28, currently of Las Vegas, NV will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 31, 2015, at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. David Pape officiating, assisted by Pastor Johnny Pacheco and Bert Wofford. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Yuriy Alymbayeva, Ian Clark, Brandon Wofford, Zackery Thompson, Donald Bennett, Johnathon Wofford, Benjamin Lindsey, Larkin Lindsey, Thomas Sullivan and Andrew Hertel serving as pallbearers.
Keenan Alan Wofford was born February 20, 1987, in Portales to the home of Sherill and Alan Wofford, and died October 23, 2015, in Las Vegas, NV. Sgt. Wofford grew up in Portales, and was a 2005 graduate of Clovis Christian High School. He went on to attend Eastern New Mexico University for a brief time before joining the US Army. During his years of service, Keenan served in El Paso, TX, before being sent to Qatar and later Bahrain. In 2012, he was appointed as the Army Recruiter for Las Vegas, NV, where he was serving at the time of his death. During his years of service, he received numerous awards and medals, including the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the US Army Basic Recruiter Badge and the US Army Commendation Medal which was awarded posthumously.
On March 16, 2012, in El Paso, he was married to Liana Lili Secret. Keenan was reared in the First Church of the Nazarene in Portales. Outside of his work, he enjoyed hunting and target shooting, but the thing that brought him the most pleasure was playing with his daughter, Lilayna.
Survivors include his wife, Liana Lili Secret of Las Vegas, NV, and his daughter, Lilayna Secret-Wofford of the home; his parents, Sherill and Alan Wofford of Portales; seven sisters, Katy (Eric) McGuire of Brockton, MA, Cali (Alex) Perez-Verdia of Idaho Falls, ID, Cristen (Jake) Leal of Idaho Falls, ID, Maleikah, Maddison, Daneisha and Alexandria Wofford of Portales; a brother, Johnathan Wofford of Portales; his grandparents, Mae and Dale Wofford of Portales and Virginia and Al Schmuck of Lubbock, TX; aunts and uncles, Bert (Sandy) Wofford of Aspermont, TX, Rayma Wofford Hartwick of Columbia, SC, Virginia (Mike) Sullivan of Albuquerque, NM, Catherine (Tom) Sullivan of Portales, Beth (Kevin) Lindsey of Portales, Celia (Dana) Davis of Los Lunas, NM, Alyne (Gale) Fulte of Las Cruces, NM, Julia Wofford of Albuquerque, NM, Joseph Schmuck, Maria (Justin) Osborne, Anna (Filemon) Olivarez, John (Dana) Schmuck, Rachel (Matt) Peterson and Rebecca Schmuck; two nephews, Sebastian and Andreas Perez-Verdia of Idaho Falls, ID; as well as numerous cousins and other family members.
