Over the past year, I have missed my fatherly figure, Mr. Joshee at so many occasions! I have missed his sincere advice; I have missed his presence at Gandhi Foundation meetings; I have missed his critique which in the past had shown me the right path! I feel like I am in a canoe with out a paddle. The world is not the same without Mr. Joshee.

Though a year has since past, the following quote describes very well how many of us are still feeling.
A single person is missing for you, and the whole world is empty.

Karuna and Family - I just heard of Mr. Joshee's passing. Your husband/father/grandfather was an amazing man with and extraordinary heart! I had the honour of knowing him later in his life. He called almost daily with words of true wisdom and I will always cherish these phone calls, stories and time he gave to help seniors in need. My sincere condolences.

Reva and Family,
It was with sadness that I learned of the passing of your father, Krishan. He was one of my St. Mary's high school teachers who made a significant difference in my learning and my life. He was passionate about the sciences and compassionate to his students. Years later I had the good fortune to be have you, Reva, as a colleague at OISE. I so enjoyed the visits from your father and mother to Toronto where we enjoyed catching up on our lives and sharing a cup of tea. He will be missed by many of us. This is a huge loss in your life - my heart goes out to you.

I was so sorry to hear the news about Mr. Joshee's passing. Although we only met in person once, we talked on the phone and I kept up with his family activities and community service through my friendship with his daughter Reva.

I feel privileged to have learned about Mr. Joshee's dedicated teaching, his commitment to the community, and his leadership in the family through Reva's stories. Please know that his legacy lives on through everyone he has touched. My thoughts are with your family at this sad time.

Hello from Finland. I am a former student of Reva (one of the group of PhD students she helped graduate last year!). Reva and I share a lot of things including a special relationship with our parents. She was extremely understanding when I lost my Mom, knowing just what that meant to my day to day life. When travelling with Reva, I was privileged to overhear her nightly phone conversations with her dear parents who always sent their best encouragements to us through her. I know her cherished father was a major source of encouragement and inspiration to be the important scholar and teacher she has become. How blessed you all are to have been able to share so much with Mr. Joshee during his long life, and what a life. Sending my empathy and love to all of you, especially Reva. Karen Pashby

At this time when the grief seems relentless and overwhelming and there is only darkness, I have found the following words to be of some comfort.

"When you are sorrowful, look again in your heart and you shall see that, in truth, you are weeping for that which has been your delight."~Kahlil Gibran

Mr. Joshee was the pillar that myself and others leaned on. We will miss him dearly as he was there as teacher and mentor to so many. His true legacy is that he was the light that helped us find our way in this world teaching us to be independent and strong. Those of us who knew him are by far richer for that experience.

I am deeply saddened to hear the news. 'Papa' Joshee was like an father and an uncle to me, and always welcomed me so much into his heart and home. He had a greatness about him that was beyond description, yet felt by all. It was always wonderful when he visited Vancouver with the family, or when we were able to visit in Edmonton. So many people loved and admired him -- and he will truly be missed by many. My thoughts are with you all in this time.
Sending you much love,

I am extremely sorry to learn the passing of respected Mr. Krishan Joshee, a revered community leader and a family friend. He was mentor for many of us and I sought his advice and asked for help in every tough situation which he never declined. A truly role model, he touched many lives with his exemplary simple and truthful life. This is an irreplaceable loss not only for the Gandhi Foundation but the community at large.

Dear Auntie and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Uncle's passing. I will never forget his kindness to me when Rene and I were first going out. He truly made me feel at ease (which was difficult as I remember meeting a lot of people in a short period of time). He showed interest in my work and asked me lots of questions about what type of stories I was working on. One time he shared a story with me about a meeting he had with (then) AFN Chief Ovide Mercredi and the topics the two discussed. He even offered to get some of the material from the meeting for my work. His legacy is everywhere. I remember on my honeymoon in B.C. how Rene and I spotted him on a poster inside a small theatre. There he was, proudly smiling with a group of other people urging Canadians to get out there and volunteer. I am very grateful to have known him and loved talking to him over the phone. I will never forget him or you.
Best wishes and love to you all,
Dave, Audrey and William
