On December 30, 2014, Mackenzie (Mack) Thomas Pawluk left us suddenly and tragically.
Mack is lovingly remembered and honoured by his parents, Darren and Angie Pawluk of Sherwood Park, and Kathleen and Richard Smith of Edmonton, Alberta. The legacy of his joy and lust for life will be carried on by his older brothers; Jordan Kurowski, Joshua Rudolph Pawluk, Harley Pawluk, and Mack's young sister, Sophie "Kiddo" Smith.
His life will be celebrated warmly by his surviving grandparents, Patricia Vinthers of Princeton, BC; Terry and Shirley George of Chilliwack, BC; Russ and Lenora Pawluk of Chilliwack, BC, Russell and Ollie Kotyk of Sherwood Park, Alberta; James Smith of Parksville, BC, and Gerry Vinthers of Prince George, BC.
We mourn the loss of our beautiful boy with enumerable aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins from across the country who were touched by all that Mackenzie was and gave, and we pay tribute to the expansive circle of friends that he turned into a vibrant and unique family, with special love to Skylar, Joel, Bradan, Josh, Kendall, Ashlynn, Caitlin, Aleisha, Madison, Casey, Kasia, Christie, and so many others who became part of the great blended family we all found complete joy and love through. Mack is gone from us too soon, but the love he leaves is equal to the love he created during his short time, and we will carry that love forward in his honour.
We welcome you to wear your best trilby, fedora, or pageboy in honour of Mack's amazing sense of style (no ball caps, please) and join us in a celebration of Mack's life to take place on January 10, 2015 at 2 p.m., Glenwood Funeral Home, 52356 RR 232, Sherwood Park, Alberta. All are welcome.
It is with special gratitude that we acknowledge the Sherwood Park RCMP detachment for their compassion, care, and kindness during these dark hours. They cared for our boy with grace and honour.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly request donations be made in Mack's name to the Suicide Prevention Hotline in Edmonton, Alberta, or to your local chapter.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of Mackenzie. I think he was my first male friend in Sakaw school.
I remember bringing two forks to school so we could share pie during our lunch break. I never saw him after elementary but it didn't mean that the memories we had were lostm

I just read your post about Mackenzie on Facebook and was compelled to reach out to you. I am so sorry for your broken heart and I totally support your frustration with the healthcare system that has nothing but quick little band aid solutions for those battling within their own minds. I too lost my son, his name was Anthony, he decided to end his pain in the wee hours of the morning while those that loved him slept. The pain for those of us left behind is immense, though, those who choose to leave deal with their own immeasurable pain. I am sorry you and your family are experiencing this catastrophic nightmare....hopefully one day no other family will go through this awful tragedy.
