BOCIURKIW, Vera Anne
On January 11, 2013, Vera Anne Bociurkiw of Edmonton passed away at the age of 86 years.
Vera was born in Schvaikivtsi, Ukraine in 1927. She emigrated with her mother Evhenia Wasylyshyn and her brother Steve and sister Lillian to Morinville, Alberta in 1932 to join her father Mikhailo Wasylyshyn. She married Bohdan Bociurkiw in Edmonton in 1950. Besides being a mother to six children, Vera Bociurkiw was also a student of French literature, an immigrant settlement worker, a gourmet cook, and a world traveler. Her hospitality was renowned to all. Vera is survived by her loving children, Taras (Olya), Jeannie Lloyd, Marusya, Michael, and Lydia; five grandchildren, Sonya, Natalie, Zorya (Patrick), Krystyna, and Stephan; three great-grandchildren, Reece, Peyton, and Owen; one brother and sister, Steve (Charlotte) and Lillian. Predeceased by husband, Bohdan; son, Roman; and parents, Michael and Eugenia.rayers Thursday, January 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 - 111 Avenue, with Reverend Danylo Kuc officiating.
Divine Liturgy Friday, January 18 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 10825 - 97 Street. Very Reverend Michael Kowalchyk and Reverend Bill Hupalo officiating with interment in St. Michael's Cemetery.
