Harold PAGE Obituary

Published by Edmonton Journal on May 7, 2016.
PAGE, Harold Vernon
P. Eng.
Born July 21, 1921, in Kenora, Ontario, Harold passed away peacefully, on May 3, 2016, surrounded by loving family. Predeceased by the love of his life, Margaret, he is survived by their five children: Robert (Victoria), Douglas (Sylvia), Barbara (Ken Hicks), Susan (Jerry Fryer) and Roger(Catherine); 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Harold graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in chemical engineering. He enjoyed a long, professional career, working in a variety of roles and earning many honours and awards for his contributions. He served proudly in the Canadian Armed Forces.
The Family would like to thank the caring staff at Canterbury Manor, and the many service providers at the University of Alberta hospital, the Royal Alexander hospital and the Glenrose Rehabilitation hospital, who provided competent, compassionate care. It was Harold's request that there be no formal service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Westlawn Funeral Home, 16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton.

Our sincere condolences on the passing of Uncle Harold. He was a source of love and pride for our father, Len. Throughout the years, Uncle Harold never seemed to change. When we visited him, he enjoyed updating us on the many additions to his branch of the Page family tree. Uncle Harold's appreciation and gratitude for our Dad's love and support never wavered. This love extended to all of our family members.

It was with sadness that we learned of Uncle Harold's passing. He was a gentleman and leader, someone I looked up to throughout my military career. The Ottawa branch of the family including Dorothy, Alana, John and Maryanna, Doug and Sheri-Lyn (Samantha and Sydney), Carolyn and Howard (Cameron and Robin). Thank you for the time you spent with me while in Calgary, Edmonton and Wainwright from 1993 to 2012; in particular for representing the Family when I took Company Command in Edmonton.

I am so saddened to hear of Harold's passing. He was the managing director of the C.E.A. during my tenure as President many years ago. A finer gentleman I have never known. I called him frequently from my home in San Diego and we always had a good time commiserating on old times. He will be sorely missed.
