ELKIN — Mr. Walter Franklin "Frank" Petree Sr., 80, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Petree was born in Forsyth County to Lewis Henry and Edith Pitts Petree. Mr. Petree was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death sister, Peggy Couch. Survivors include his wife, Vera Nelson Petree of the home; son, Walter Franklin Petree Jr. of State Road; daughters, Ava Lyn Petree of Elkin and Edith Luanne Petree of Elkin; sister, Eleanor Green and husband Edward of Clingman; five grandchildren, Amber Schosser, Zebediah Jordan, Krissy Jordan, Brittany Petree and Dana Prevette; and five great-grandchildren, Dalton Wood, Alyssa Schosser, Hannah Schosser, Gabriel Cross and Makaila Schosser. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating. A graveside service will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017; or SECU House, 1970 Baldwin Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
