Today we honor the memory of Dr. Gene Finke. I had the delight of knowing such a caring and fascinating man for over 20 years. We met at Mount Sinai, and from that moment on, our friendship carried over to my family, and with his wife, Connie.

By simply noting all his achievements, you knew you were in the company of someone grand. He delivered whole-heartedly in everything he did, his words reflected in the commitment of his actions.

My friend, thank you. You will forever remain a fixture of El Paso and in our hearts.

Dr. Finke was a remarkable man. He was my colleague and my supervisor as the Chair for the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Phoenix. He was most supportive, gave me ample opportunities, and his mentoring skills helped me grow as an educator and a person. I will miss his tenacious drive to get people motivated and involved. His warm demeanor, his humor, and grand personality are traits found in few; a true gentleman in every sense. He impacted my life and I am grateful for having known him and for his friendship. I will miss you Dr. Finke. My condolences to Connie and the family, he was loved and respected by many.

Gene loved life and lived it to it's fullest. His voice was deep and calmimg and his advise was priceless. Although limited, my husband and I truly enjoyed our talks and visits with Gene. Marrying Gene was the best thing that ever happened for my sister Connie...and my family. He touched many people and will be remembered forever. God Bless you Gene!
