Robert Groner Obituary

Robert "Bob" Groner, 64, Berger, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Groner was born Sept. 2, 1947, in Washington, the son of the late George S. Groner and wife Marie, nee Meyer.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era.

Mr. Groner was the husband of Jeanne Groner, nee Heitman. They were married April 4, 1970, at Immaculate Conception Church, Old Monroe. Mrs. Groner survives in Berger.

Mr. Groner formerly worked as a salesman at Chris Auffenberg Ford, Washington. He also worked as a carpenter at Woerman Construction, St. Louis, for over 20 years and was a farmer his whole life in the Berger area.

He was devoted to the rosary, was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, was a St. Paul's Church Council member and member of the Knights of Columbus and New Haven Lions.

Mr. Groner enjoyed the outdoors, farming, hunting, fishing and cooking.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne; five sons, Mark Groner and wife Bedra, Hillsboro, Brian Groner and wife Heidi, New Haven, Brad Groner and wife Jamie and Luke Groner, all of Berger, and Rob Groner and wife Erica, Hermann; one daughter, Michelle Pierceall and husband Bruce, Overland Park, Kan.; five sisters, Mary Ann Vaughan and husband Chuck and Betty Fast and husband Dan, all of Jefferson City; Carol Schaefer and husband Don, Hermann, Theresa Groner-Davis and husband Rob, Hallsville, and Paula Bunde and husband Brad, Overland Park, Kan.; one sister-in-law, Marian Groner, Hermann; nine grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Roger Groner.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 3, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Berger, with Father John Deken officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorials to St. Paul's Catholic Church or St. Paul's Cemetery are preferred.

The family was served by Toedtmann-Gross Funeral Home, Hermann.
