Glenn Spaur

1933 - 2017

Estes Park resident and retired businessman Glenn Spaur died at his home Friday February 24, 2017. He was 83 years old. Glenn H. Spaur was born November 13, 1933 in Johnstown, CO. His parents were Bennett Spaur, Sr. and Marie Binder Spaur. Glenn graduated from high school in Johnstown before joining the United States Navy, stationed in Tennessee. Returning to Colorado, he moved first to Grand Junction, then to Estes Park where he met "Murph", a local paint contractor who taught him the business. They worked together in Loveland and Estes Park until Glenn started Glenn Spaur Painting & Drywall. He is survived by two sons; Glenn Michael Spaur of Evans, CO and Kevin Scott Spaur of Estes Park, and a daughter Kelli Spaur-Van Horne of Estes Park. He is also survived by 5 grandsons Bryce and Skylar Spaur, Hunter Van Horne, Joshua Spaur and Marshall Van Horne; brothers Bennett Spaur, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Eaton, CO and Gilbert Spaur and wife Caron of Johnstown; sister in law Ruby Spaur of Johnstown. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Byron. A memorial gathering was held at Trout Haven Resort 800 Moraine Avenue, Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 2:30 PM.
