Bettye J. Craven

Bettye J. Craven, 82, formerly of Emeritus of Lakewood, passed away Friday (January 18, 2013) at the Brevillier Village Assisted Living Facility, Erie, Pa. A Jamestown, N.Y. area resident for the past 27 years, she was born June 14, 1930 in Meadville, Pa. a daughter of the late Chester and Margaret Johnson VanSlyke. She was a graduate of Meadville High School and was a member of the Zion Covenant Church in Jamestown, N.Y. Surviving is a daughter Christa Craven (Jill Shaffer) of Erie, Pa., two son's Vernon (Lynn McLane) Craven of Frewsburg, N.Y., Kenneth (Christina Erdley) Craven of Kittanning, Pa., four grandchildren Jennifer (Andrew) Nelson of Erie, Pa., Autumn (Brian) Hagberg of Colorado Springs, Colo., Nick Craven and Alex Craven both of Kittanning. Pa., a great grandson Caleb Nelson and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William R. Craven whom she married May 24, 1954 and who died September 12, 2010, a sister Bonita Quackenbush and two brothers Raymond and Milton VanSlyke. The funeral will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, in the Lind Funeral Home, 805 West Third St. Jamestown, N.Y. The Rev. Steve Kilburn of Zion Covenant Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery, Meadville, Pa. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
