Anna Mae Harper

Anna Mae Harper, age 90, of Erie, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at her home. She was born on July 15, 1925, in Cranesville, Pa., the daughter of the late Glancy and Marion Fuessler Thrasher.

Anna graduated from Albion High School in 1944. She was a nurse's aide for the County Hospital before spending 25 years with Millcreek Community Hospital.

Anna was a caregiver her entire life. At a young age, she lovingly cared for her father, who had MS, and then cared for both her mother and her husband during their illnesses.

She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed bowling and traveling with her husband. She also enjoyed cooking and going to the theater or movies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Harry S. Harper; and her brother and sister-in-law, Howard F. and Ethel Thrasher.

Anna is survived by six children: Jacquelyn (Barry) Robinson, Howard (Susan) Harper, Terri (Richard) Weldon, Connie Harper, Karen Glus, and Jill Waite. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, their spouses, and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services were private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery.

Anna's family would like to thank her caregivers from both Comfort Care and Regional Home Health and Hospice for the care and compassion they have shown Anna and her family. Over the years, many of them have become her extended family.
