Duane W. Kinnear

Duane W. Kinnear, 79, of East Springfield, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at UPMC Hamot, following an extended illness.

He was born December 12, 1936, in Conneaut, Ohio, a son of the late Frank W. and Kathryn E. (Green) Kinnear.

Duane graduated from the Conneaut High School in 1954. Following graduation from high school, he worked for the Nickel Plate Railroad in Conneaut and later for Pete Otis Ford Car Co., as an auto body technician. Later, began his own business with a partner "West Girard Collision," which he eventually became sole proprietor of, working there until his retirement in 1997.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Conneaut, OH. He also served as a Tank Driver with Charlie Co., 1st Medium Tank Battalion of the Army National Guard of Ohio from 1961 to 1963, attaining the rank of Corporal.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Gross and Frances Lehman; a brother, Donald Kinnear; and a grandson Alex R. Kitcey III.

He will be greatly missed by his family, which include his wife of 57 years, Judith A. (Hopkins) Kinnear; a daughter, Karen A. Kitcey (Tim Buren) of Girard; a son, Kirk W. Kinnear of Erie; his granddaughter, Ashley R. Kitcey and her fiancé Jason Reinwald of McKean; his great-grandchildren, Adrian, Dameon, Gauge, Madyson, Aiden, Gabby and Hailey; and also several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Sunday from 6 p.m. until the time of a prayer service at 8 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 W. 12th St., Erie, PA 16505.
