Michael -
It's Christmas Eve, and I just learned of Don's passing. I can't find the words. I am forever grateful for how much Don taught me. He defined an era. He guided and formed many major literary forces of the 20th Century. He is missed, and I shall miss that sly laugh punctuating his conversation.
He taught us how to tell stories to the reading public. May you always remember your family stories, and retell your family stories to each other. We live in each other's memories and stories. Remember. And in time, I hope you will remember with a smile.
