Frank Christy Obituary

Frank P. Christy, age 86, of Albion, Pa., went home to be with the Lord, on Wednesday evening, June 10, 2015, at Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie, Pa.

Frank was born on June 7, 1929, the son of the late Fred J. and Helen M. (Goodrich) Christy.

He retired after many years as a press operator at C.W. Ohio and previously worked at the Pittsburgh & Conneaut Dock Co. and the Peres Pattern Co. of Erie. He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Albion, Pa., where he also taught Sunday School and was a practicing Lay Leader. He had served our country proudly in the U.S. Army during both Korea and the Vietnam Wars, and he enjoyed gardening and Silviculture (growing trees), and reading. He was an avid member of the Western Star Lodge #304 and the F & A Masons, Scottish and York Rite Mason organizations.

Besides his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Carter) Christy, whom he married on December 18, 1971. She was laid to rest on October 16, 2009.

Frank is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Time of Gathering will be held at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, at 11883 Main Street, East Springfield, Pa., on Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 1 until the time of the service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Mel Bendig, officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Albion Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1645 W. 8th Street, Erie, Pa.

I've worked with Frank in his woods for thirty years and have always appreciated his knowledge and insight. Nobody cared for his woods more than Frank. We will all miss him, but know that if you want to see him, he' is still in his woods...

I always enjoyed Frank's visits to the Hubers and seeing him at the farm when we visited Grandma Christy. He was always laughing and had many stories. He will be missed. May he rest in piece. Sue Westendorf and family.

Rest in peace Frank. I always enjoyed our times together, your visits to the Hubers in BG and our family visits at the farm running up and down the hill and watching the trains.

Words are hard to find to express how much I enjoyed getting to know you Frank. It was a short time, but I looked forward to our weekly chats. You had a wonderful sense of humor and a kindness that matched no one. I will miss you. You are with the love of your life now. God Bless my friend.
