Mark N. Beers

Mark N. Beers, age 59, of Platea, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at home, after a short illness. Born in Kane, Pa., on August 17, 1956, Mark was the son of the late Gordon L. and Valjean M. Witherell Beers.

Mark was a loving husband and father, a man with a big heart, compassionate and caring. He loved his family and his two dogs, Troubles and Cheyenne, and would answer to his nicknames Sparky, Bear, or Pooh. Mark was a truck driver for over 35 years, most recently driving for D and D Truck Services in Platea, and prior to that, Team Hardinger Trucking. He enjoyed listening to the trucking network and news talk shows, watching sports on TV, and watching and feeding birds.

Family members include his wife, Laurie Ann Wolf Beers; three daughters - Danyel Thompson, Kristen Griffith, and April Godel; a brother, Thomas Beers and his wife Autumn; a sister, Lori Harrison and her husband Jim; his Aunt Jean Beers and Uncle Mark Williams; and several grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be at Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 306 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Friday from 4 - 6 p.m., and the funeral service will be there Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Marshall Lillie will officiate. Burial will follow in Platea Cemetery.
