Donna Butch Obituary

Donna Mae (Teed) Butch, born in Erie, Pa., on October 25, 1932, passed away on January 8, 2017.

Donna was raised in Cranesville, Pa. and graduated from Albion-High in 1950, where she played basketball and participated in the band. Her love of sports continued throughout her life. She loved playing golf, bowling and watching thoroughbred horse racing. Donna was a devoted member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Albion, a dedicated hard worker, as well as a loyal friend to many.

Donna touched the lives of many throughout her many careers. Her first job was as a bookkeeper at a U.S. Naval base in Chicago, where her life long friend Nancy Wolfe was stationed in the U.S. Navy. She later returned home to become a licensed beautician, and continued in her profession for 20 years with her own beauty salon. Donna was also the owner of the Corner Restaurant in Albion. Some of her other jobs included working on the family farm, peddling milk for her Dad, H.H. "Boney" Teed's Sunnyside Dairy, secretary at Northwestern Junior High School, and also became a real estate agent before becoming a nurse's aide / housekeeping employee at Pleasant Ridge Manor, where she worked for several years before retiring.

Of her many accomplishments, the one she was by far the most proud of and fulfilled by was her family. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports, and attended every sporting event she possibly could.

Donna was the daughter of Harold "Boney" Teed and Maria Consedine Teed.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Harold Teed and former husband, "Jack" John Butch.

She leaves behind three children, Jacqueline Brown, James Butch (Patti), and Lisa Butch, sisters-in-law, Rose and Mary Teed, grandchildren, Jordan Brown Kranz (David), Samuel Dreistadt, Ryan Butch, Hailey Butch, great-grandchildren, Connor, Leah, and Davey Kranz, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Saint Lawrence Catholic Church, 180 E. State St., in Albion, Pa., on Thursday, January 12th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Fr. Philip Oriole officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donna's honor to the Mattera Funeral Home or to the Erie chapter of the Parkinson's Partners of N.W. Pennsylvania.

To the family of Donna, I am so sorry for your loss. I am so thankful for her friendship over the years. We had a great visit a couple days before she passed away. We used to carpool when we worked at PRM as well as worked together. I have so many happy memories of those days. She was very loving to the residents and a trusted friend to many. She will be missed.

To all of Donna's kids I worked for your mom at her corner restaurant when I was 15. I loved working for her and if you worked hard she appreciated it so much. Her and I laughed so much over the crazy things that go on in restaurants. God bless all of you and remember all the laughs and fun times you had together. God Bless! Lori Smith Knowles

Dear Butch kids, grandkids and Nancy,

Memories of Donna Mae are vivid and smile producing. She was one of a kind and her own woman. I clearly remember when she made the decision to become a beautician and got her start working in my mother's beauty shop. Please accept my condolences on her passing.

Sad to know that "Teeder" is gone. We grew up together, and she surely enjoyed her sports life. She was a great basketball player, told her many times, she was born ahead of times, or she would have been a pro. I watched her struggle with her illnes and keep on bowling when most of us would have quit. She never complained about her life, but accepted it. She is with God now, and not sick anymore. Rest in Peace.
