Michael T. Biernacki, 73, passed away December 13, 2016, after a short battle with cancer, at Googleheimer Hospice Center, Lynchburg, Va., after a short stay a Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born April 25, 1943, a son of the late Stephen and Mary (Durasa) Biernacki.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Biernacki of Meadville, Pa.

He is survived by a sister, Irene Shreve (Ford) of Springboro, Pa., a brother, Thomas Biernacki (Josephine) of Conneaut Lake, Pa., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael attended a one-room school in Crossingville, Pa. and graduated from Cambridge Springs High School in 1961. Never a college graduate, after attending various technical schools over the years, he spent his working career at various plastic companies in several states as a plastics engineer. He retired as a Senior Project Engineer from Tessy Plastics in Lynchburg, Va. Michael was a member of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Lynchburg, Va. He was also a member of the Indiana, Pa. Historical Society and he made a very detailed family genealogy book. He very much enjoyed history and made it a point to visit most historical sites in Virginia, his adopted home. Until recently, he spent each day working on the ground surrounding his condo and visiting friends he might happen upon in downtown Lynchburg. Michael also enjoyed gardening, golfing and fishing.

A memorial Funeral Mass will be held at St. Philips Roman Catholic Church, Crossingville, on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Philip Oriole officiating.
