Im so heart-broken from the lost of Darrick. I'm also heart-broken from the missed opportunities that I had to become closer with him but I've now learned to never take time for granted, never put off until tomorrow what you can do today. I really miss him a lot. He was a good friend of my family. I used to visit him in DC and he used to visit me when he came to VA and then we both moved to GA. It was in GA where we talked on the phone more and hung out together. I felt like I had family here in GA with me. I just thank GOD for the time I got to know one of his angels. He was a really good friend and person and he will be terribly missed. RIP Darrick

God saw they were their happiest and someone would not let that be.
So he put his arms around them and whispered "Come with Me".
With tear filled eyes we watched them, suffer and fade away. Although we loved them deeply, We could not make them stay.
A golden heart stop beating, hard working hands put to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,

HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST!!!

I know because mine was taken too.

Darrick, we love and will miss you dearly. You were a vibrant and energetic spirit, and your voice will forever echo in the halls of what used to be Academy High School. Boisterous and opinionated, you always presented your point intellectually and with a smile. But the bottom line was, you "WOULD" be heard, and "COULDN'T" be ignored. Thanks you for countless laughs and memories. God bless your family and all your dear friends.

Ma Lucas, Wow, I can't express the pain I feel not having Peewee around. From St. Joes to today.
The memories are branded in my heart. Last Thanksgiving him eating up my mac n cheese and fussing because I didn't make him a separate pan to go. The last time he danced was at my wedding. He even drove my husband and I to get our license to make sure we go through with it, lol.
We shared many many happy times together when we lived in MD and last in GA. He was a brother I never had.
After seeing him suffer I knew he was in transition and I am grateful that he is in heaven smiling down on us. it is hard to say goodbye to yesterday but thanks be to God there is eternity!
Love you Tasha and the baby.

To mama lucas, I have had some good days, and I have had some bad days, however on August 14th was a bad day. I am one to know that god does not make any mistakes. I know, within a three year time I have lost my mother, father, grandmother, and my best friend. I know that god is a good god. I will miss Dee aka (pee-wee) all of my days I have left here until my time come. Mama, I know what you went through when you were here. I prayed for you everyday. Mama you remind me of my mother so much. He favorite words was JUST STAND STILL. When my mother was going through her illness Dee was right there and I just wanted you to know that it meant alot. Just wanted you to know that Darrick did not complain at all. He took the good with the bad and the bad with the good. I learned alot from him and I am grateful to have met a friend as pee wee. I will never forget him..He has a place in my heart.. RIP Dee

MY heart goes out to the family of Pee-wee as I new him. WOW! I am left in awe with the lost of such a outspoken, outgoing spirit.. WE had a blast growing up - spent many days discussing ways to make it big. THE biggiest memory I have is our big dreams to make it in the club industry and started out having parties at the erie one to raise money to bring our big dream alive. At some point it went up in smoke - but the love was nev. lost the show went on.. My boys from the 17 incl (fatty). their was those who found it hard to get along with him but some how I pulled it off. I always new the right things to say. It appears as we have lost two intriquing spirits from the world - but in essence they are still very much with us. God bless u tasha and your mom becuz I can't even say I understand or feel your pain becuz I don't. You will be forever in my prayers...

I met Darrick several years ago in Chesapeake, VA at my sister Vivian's house who is John's mother and he was such a nice person that I truly felt so much respect for. And my prayer is for his mom and his family that God will keep you and that time heals all pain.

Devastated...

to the Parents, Children, Sister, Brother and entire family thank you for sharing Darrick with us for 40 years.

The value of a minute of someones life is eternal and those moments spent have deep impact on those that they share them with.

On behalf of all of your partners, lifelong friends, homeboys, teammates, road dogs, frat brothers, fellow warriors, internet friends, military buddies and class mates we value every minute you gave us and appreciate the positive impact.

Unfortunately, life's ups and downs and busy schedules has a way of dis-connecting folks, times like these and people like Darrick (PEE WEE) serve to re-connect our souls.

Man I just hope you know how much you are respected, loved, and appreciated by everyone including your A-Dog Brothers from Academy, the folks from the hoop courts and the (old peaceful)block parties on 17th street, your Upward Bound Crew, your freinds from the Erie 1, your classmates from the Erie Cheyney University connection and several others.

Thanks to you, Fatty, Reece, Steve, Dave Boyd, Sylvester, Curt, Bankhead and and Chuck. If it was not for our group study approach to passing Chemistry and various classes at the Upward Bound we might all still be in study session or witing for our diplomas at Academy.

P hold it down for us you have a whole lot of friends hopeing to one day join you in heaven. We have a lot of laughs and stories to catch up on.

Thanks for the call and words of encouragement when I lost my Dad. Man when I heard your voice it brightened up some pretty dark days because I remembered the great times we all had together over some of the best years of our lives.

When you get a chance, tell my father and our mutual friends and families we love you all and you are all cherished and remembered.

Your Mom, Sister and Fatty will be ok you have left a legacy of friendship that will extend to them. I'll keep your family in my prayers and let your kids know some of the great things they may not have realized about their dad...Thanks for being a true friend.

Brother my Brother
A brother is a person
to laugh and cry with, and fight with
someone who lends a helping hand.
I miss you more and more everyday
and all I can do is pray.

I will not forget the joy in your house on East 17th. Peewee and Fatty were unpredictable and we just did not know what would happen next, and they kept you busy. But what fun we had. I am glad I got the chance to know the innocence of their childhood and the gladness they put in your life.

To the Lucas Family,

I offer my deepest sympathy. From 17th street, to the Booker T., PeeWee and I had a Big-brother-little-sister bond that was so genuine. We made each other laugh & even cried from time to time together. I will miss him.

May GOD'S grace and mercy comfort the family & friends during this time. GOD favored him.

Respectfully,

a true friendship is initiated from a youthful innocence and flourishes with maturity.i have known pee wee for my entire existence and his presence will be forever in my heart. our competitve forces collided on countless occasions and the potency of our friendship never allowed for the taste of bitter to reside on our tongues, or to grow from the branch of infantile. i sincerely extend my deepest condolences to the family of pee wee, for i know his passing leaves a void in all of our hearts. my condolences to the tenth power. from scott harris !

There are not enough words to describe a true friend, and Mr. Darrick Lucas Aka (Pee Wee) was just that, there were no hidden agendas with him what you see is what you get. He always kept it real with you, funny , he would always keep you laughing, with the kindred spirit that he had.You will truly be missed. R.I.P my Brother. My condolences to Darrick's family. I graduated with Darrick from Academy High School in 1987. My father also passed away Friday, so I share in your grief and sorrow and heartbreak. God must have been calling all the good guys home that day. Darrick was way too young and I know he will be sorely missed. May your memories and your faith in God get you all thru this.
