Aaron Beaton Obituary

May 25, 1974 - Sept. 25, 2010 Aaron Daniel Beaton, age 36, died suddenly due to the complications of a stroke on Saturday at the Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA. Beloved husband to Shannon (Mac Neil), and dear father to Marley (6) and Alexa (3). Aaron was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada, and one of five children to Burke and Kate Beaton of Little Judique, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Brother to David (Allanna), Williamsville, N.Y., Geraldine (Roy Mac Eachern), Vancouver, B.C., Darren, Amherst, N.Y., and Howard, Little Judique, N.S. He was son-in-law to Bernice (Strathlorne, N.S.) and Donald Mac Neil (Pickle Lake, ON). He was a jolly uncle to Tristan Mac Eachern and to Victoria and Elizabeth Beaton. Aaron is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who he appreciated and loved a great deal. He was proud owner of Erie Coffee Company, LLC, which operates a Tim Horton's franchise located at 2745 West 26th St., Erie, PA. Aaron was very confident and humbled by his team of employees who have helped him grow his business in Erie. He built strong relationships with his customers and in the community. He was especially proud of the Tim Horton's Timbit Hockey program, which he was instrumental in developing in Erie for children aged four through nine. He was previously employed at Frito-Lay, New Minas, Nova Scotia and Molson Breweries, St. John's, Newfoundland. He gained experience in the Tim Horton's business working in Tonawanda and North Tonawanda, N.Y., until he fulfilled his dream of owning and operating his own business. Aaron was raised in Little Judique, Cape Breton Island. He graduated from Judique-Creignish Consolidated School (1992) and received his Bachelor of Science Degree and Certificate in Applied Science from Acadia University, Wolfville, Nova Scotia (1995). He continued his studies at DalTech, Halifax, N.S., and received his Bachelor of Engineering (1998). He was a member of the Professional Engineers Association of Nova Scotia. His family are members of St. Luke Catholic Church in Erie. Aaron was a dedicated and hard-working husband and father who loved spending time with his wife and children. He enjoyed and participated in sports, including basketball, hockey, baseball, and was a great putter in golf! He was famous for his positive, jolly, and optimistic attitude towards everything in life. He always made people smile and laugh. He will be missed by all of his family and friends. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Rd. (corner of East Gore Road and Pine Avenue), Erie, PA, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Aaron will then be taken home and will be waked at the Port Hood Community Funeral Home, Port Hood, Nova Scotia, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Parish Church, Port Hood. Watched the Tragically Hip documentary last night. They had videos of some of their concerts in the early years. Part of me was hoping they caught a clip of you there and that I would see you. I am sure you are helping Gord make some great music in heaven. Miss you lots. Xoxo, sis

Aaron,
Its takin me a long time to read all the comments on your guestbook, why I chose now, I don't no.
But what I do no, is that you've touched the heart of more people in your short lifetime, than most people will do in a long one.
I miss you very much, and think of you everyday.
Till we meet again, take care.

Shannon,

Not sure you will even see this but I just learned of Aaron's passing last night and I am still in shock to have heard this. My heart goes out to you and your girls and the rest of the family. I knew Aaron for a short time when I had the privilege to work for him and I have thought of him and his business often never expecting to hear new like this. I regret not having stopped in often enough to have heard the news sooner. I would see him about town and would talk to him anytime I ran into him. I always expected to run into again and to catch up once more. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met, always smiling. I know he really loved you and your girls. There is so much more I could say about him and how much he affected my life. Really is hard when it happens to such an extraordinary person and family who should have had many many more years together. May God Be with you always.

Very random. Met a woman at a park here in Ottawa with her grandson. She commented on my son, and I noticed her accent was a Cape Breton accent, and asked her where she was from. Judique she says. I knew people from Judique, Aaron Beaton and Shannon McNeil. So she tells me what's happened. That's how I found out. Like a punch to the gut. My heart goes out to you Shannon, and the girls. Aaron was a great man.

This may be a little late..but I have come up with the time and courage to finally put my feelings down in words. Aaron you were one of the most insipartional people I have ever met, you always looked at the positive. Friday nights at the rink were the best, always the first one there...I was always so glad when you would come walking in to the cafe and I would ask what you were up to and you would respone "Just coming to see how you are doing?"! I still think that you will come strolling through those cafe doors to see me on a friday night...I also loved playing pickup friday nights with you...always took time to compliment and support everyone on the bench. I also loved coaching Marley for her short stint in hockey..I feel like I have known you forever but its only been a few years. That just shows that you had an amazing impact on me.
Shannon and the Girls...My thoughts are with you! Take care.

Aaron was a wonderful man with a heart of gold. I met Aaron a few months ago.I was looking for a place for our crochet / knit club to meet and he welcomed us with open arms. I explained to him there are at times up to 30 or more of us women. He smiled a big grin and said he would help us in any way. There are times we get pretty loud, but AAron always had a smile. He enjoyed seeing what we do.AAron also had a good team of workers.Never did we see him with out a smile and always there to put up with us women.Aaron will be deeply missed.

We first knew Aaron as a young man in his teens who worked for us on our strawberry farm. We soon recognized his stirling qualities -- especially intregrity and caring friendliness --rare in this old world. The memory of him stayed with us through the years, treasured as one of the best in our experiences of Cape Breton. We are saddened by his passing and join in spirit with his family and friends in mourning the loss of such an extraordinary man who gave so much of himself, and should have done so for many decades more.

The tragedy of losing someone so young and loving in the prime of his life is difficult for the mind and heart to accept. May the love you shared and the memories you built carry you through your time of grief. May the God of tender mercies and comfort guide you through the darkness to His wonderful light.

To Aaron's Family....I am just a regular customer at Tim Horton's and Aaron was so unbelievably friendly that I was compelled to ask him his name one day. That was a few years ago. I stop at the drive-through atleast 4 out of 5 days and order the same extra large cup of coffee. I honestly didn't know Aaron. But he greeted me with such a warm voice and friendly smile, that I 'feel' like he was my friend. I know I am not the only one in this position and I wanted you to know that even in such a limited capacity as mine, I knew he was a great guy! I am so sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with you and your young family.
Sincerely,

We use to live around the corner from Tim Horton's and went there quite a bit. And we were never ever let down going there. Aaron always had a smile on his face and treated each customer as a friend. I stopped for a bagel not too long ago and I knew that voice in the Drive Thru speaker. There at the window was Aaron, "Hey, how are you" he asked, sincerely. We chatted and he told me all about his little girls, and you could see the love he has for them.
We are so very sorry for your loss. You and your family are in our prayers. May God comfort you in your time of need.

I thought long and hard to write something special about Aaron, he was one-of-a-kind; happy, hardworking, ready for action no matter what the time or task - I remember when he hoped he would sell me a "beater" he had! He almost convinced me. There are alot of life lessons learned from him. I am sad for all of you, you have lost a special person; but I know he will be protecting you all from Heaven above.
