Joseph Klunk Obituary

HANOVER Joseph H. Klunk, 90, entered into God's eternal care, Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Hanover Hospital. Joseph was the loving husband of Pearl M.V. (Hoover) Klunk, who died July 19, 1997. Born October 16, 1920, in Irishtown, he was the son of the late Francis A. and Mary R. (Miller) Klunk. Joseph was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, The Harold H. Bair Post 14 American Legion, and the Hanover VFW Post 2506. Joseph was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country proudly during World War II as a radar operator. Joseph enjoyed playing cards and especially enjoyed family parties. Joseph is survived by three children, Brian S. Klunk of Dover, Barton M. Klunk of Hackettstown, N.J., and Brenda J. Miller of Jarrettsville, Md.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Robert Klunk of Littlestown, and Curtis Klunk of Edgegrove. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary K. Klunk, and three brothers, Frances "Doc" Klunk, Lawrence Klunk and Paul Klunk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5225 Grandview Road, Hanover,with Father Joseph F. Gotwalt and Father Timothy Klunk as celebrants. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. as well as from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard will provide Military Honors. Serving as casketbearers will be Andrew S. Miller, Cynthia A. Walden, Stephen P. Klunk, Michael B. Klunk, Matthew J. Klunk, and Christopher M. Klunk. Contributions in memory of Joseph may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. I will miss him very much, we where neighbors at Hanover apt. My daughter made him supper acouple of times and he was so happy . he always talked about family and always told us "don't be sad when I die , I lived a good life so be happy. " Its hard to be happy , I am sad and I miss him so much. My condolences to the family and may he rest in peace !!
