Janet Lockner Obituary

SPRING GROVE Janet LaRue (Smith) Lockner died on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at Manor Care North in York. She was the beloved wife of Harvey R. Lockner, who died in 2005. A funeral service in celebration and thanksgiving for her life will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with Pastor Fred I. Mummert officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband following the service at Marburg Memorial Gardens in Hanover. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Janet was born in Lancaster County, and was the daughter of the late Arthur L. Smith and Beatrice M. (Schultz) Smith. She worked as a school bus driver for many years for the Spring Grove School District. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. Janet is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Shearer and her husband, Russell, and her sons, Scott Lease and his wife, Chris, Gerry Lease and his wife, Jessie, and Steven Lease and his wife, Tracey, all of Spring Grove; her grandchildren, Randi Shearer, Ryan Shearer and his wife, Megan, Brandon Lease and his girlfriend, Sherry, Brittany Lease, Ashley Glatfelter and her husband, Nick, Alex Lease, and Aaron Lease; and her great-grandchildren, Zoey Lynn Shearer and Peyton James Lease. She is also survived by her brother, Leon Smith and his wife, Gloria, and her sister, Genny Baker and her husband, Claude, both of New Oxford; and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Loretta Robinson. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Harvest Time Temple, 700 Black Rock Road, Hanover PA 17331; or a charity of your choice. Janet was my best friend and I will miss the times I'd go to her house and we would have coffee and sugar cookies and talk about our husbands that are passed. We enjoyed our times together and laughed often. I will miss her greatly. My deepest sympathies are with the family. She always be my Angel.
