Allen Egger Obituary

ABBOTTSTOWN Allen E. Egger, Jr., 71, entered into God's eternal care, Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Hanover Hospital. Born August 9, 1943 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Allen E. and Effie Grace (Freeze) Egger. He was the loving husband of Stephanie A. (Mahone) Egger with whom he shared thirty-nine years of marriage. Allen was a graduate of Penn State with an associate's degree in engineering. Allen was a supervisor for Bell Telephone where he worked for over twenty-three years, as well as a horologist for over fifty years. Allen was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Hanover. Allen enjoyed watch and clock repair, spending time with his dogs, wine making, metal detecting, and repairing and building computers. In addition to his wife, Stephanie, Allen is survived by a son, Eric A. Egger and wife, Valerie of Purcellville, Va.; a sister, Beverly A. Smith of Mifflinburg; and two grand dogs, Yoda and Leia. A funeral service will be held 6 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Calvary Bible Church 603 Wilson Ave., Hanover, with his pastor, the Rev. Michael Osladil officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Allen may be made to Toys for Tots Hanover/Adams, P.O. Box 3414, Gettysburg, PA 17325-0414, the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603, or to the American Cancer Society of York/Adams, 924 N. Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403.
