Mrs. Jo Ann Caldwell, 76, of Dewey, died at 12:14 P.M. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday, August 8, 2016 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with her son, John Caldwell officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 12 Noon until 8 P.M. on Saturday and 9 A.M. until 8 P.M. on Sunday. The Caldwell family will receive guests at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 P.M. until 5 P.M.
Casket escorts will include J.C. Caldwell, Randal Shanta, Alan Mount, Greg McClintock, Gayle Kiger and Darin Landreth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established to the Dewey United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 610, Dewey, Oklahoma 74029 and to the Voice of the Martyrs, P.O. Box 443, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74005.
Mrs. Caldwell was born on February 19, 1940 at Effingham, Kansas to Dale S. and Alletta (Devers) Cohoon. She grew up and received her education at Paola, Kansas where she graduated from high school in 1958. She had also attended Pittsburg State University and Bartlesville Wesleyan College. She was married to Dale Caldwell on September 3, 1960 at Paola, Kansas. They made their home in the Dewey area and she was employed with Cities Service Oil Company, as a librarian in the Dewey Public Schools Junior High, wrote articles for the Dewey Herald and worked as the secretary for the safety group at the Phillips Research Center until her retirement in 1991. She was an active member of the Dewey United Methodist Church where she was the substitute organist, a Sunday School teacher, and taught the eighth grade girls how to fold napkins. She had a love for flowers and birds, played the piano and ukulele and played the piano and organ for weddings.
Mrs. Caldwell is survived by her husband, Dale Caldwell of the home, one daughter, Jill Mount and husband Alan of Bartlesville, one son, John Caldwell and wife Tiffany of Edmond, Okla., six grandchildren, Heather Shanta and husband Randal, Rebecca Mount, J.C. Caldwell, Ginger Caldwell, Clara Caldwell and Catie Beth Caldwell and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Wayne Cohoon.
