Leon Matlock

Leon Matlock, 77, resident of Bartlesville, died at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday in the Adams Boulevard Church of Christ with Mr. David Hammonds officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Leon Matlock was born October 13, 1932 at Park Hill, Oklahoma to Alby and Mary Sylvia (Davis) Matlock. He received his early education at Moody's Oklahoma graduating high school at Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Mr. Matlock attended Northeastern State College at Tahlequah where he received a Bachelors' degree in education. He continued his education at Oklahoma State University, University of Kansas and received his Masters degree in education from the University of Arkansas.
Mr. Matlock was married to Lorene Pigeon on June 4, 1955 at Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Mr. Matlock taught school and was an elementary school principal with the Bartlesville school system from 1955 to 1986, he continued working with Bartlesville Schools until retiring in 2007. Mr. Matlock was a member of the Adams Boulevard Church of Christ in Bartlesville for many years.
Survivors include his wife Lorene Matlock of the family home in Bartlesville; two sons Michael Leon Matlock and his wife Brenda of Bartlesville and David Mark Matlock and his wife Karen of Flower Mound, Texas; one brother Kirby Matlock of Tulsa; two sisters Joyce Randell and Loyce Tyler both of Gardendale, Texas; four grandchildren Justin Matlock, Davis Matlock, Sean Matlock and Emily Matlock. Mr. Matlock was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Gladys Crawford.
