Maxine Schnitzer Obituary

Maxine Sutton (Hayes) Schnitzer, age 97 and longtime resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away at her home on February 12, 2016.
Maxine was born March 14, 1918 to Marion Frank Hayes and Tillie Opal (Sutton) Hayes in Cherokee, Oklahoma. She lived on a farm for five years before moving into Cherokee where she attended elementary and high school, graduating in 1935.
In February 1936, Maxine entered nurses training at University Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1939.
Maxine married Lloyd Schnitzer on September 17, 1939. They lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Salina and Newton, Kansas, before settling in Bartlesville with their two children, L. E. and Barbara, in December of 1946.
Maxine worked at the Washington County Memorial Hospital as 3rd Floor Supervisor RN from 1950 until 1970. She worked for Dr. E. M. Amen from 1970 until her retirement from nursing in 1981. Upon retirement, she and Lloyd traveled extensively and supported the activities of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Maxine belonged to the Oklahoma State Nursing Association and was an active and founding member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Always fond of babies, she volunteered in the nursery and served as a teacher for the two-year-olds.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Bernadine Watson; and her husband of 60 years, Lloyd J. Schnitzer. She is survived by her son, L. E. Schnitzer of Sun City West, Arizona; and daughter, Barbara Aderton of Bartlesville. Surviving her also is her faithful companion, Little Bit. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Rachelle Wilson, husband Bo, Phillip Crouch, wife Emily, Bart Crouch, wife Jamie, Robbin Richey, husband Aaron, Brianne Fink, husband Matt, Guy Schnitzer, wife Teresa; and her great-grandchildren, Spencer Wilson, Colin Wilson, Skye Richey, Grant Richey, Trey Richey, Austyn Crouch, Adalyn Crouch, Cheyenne Finch, Warren Crouch, Nehemiah Crouch, Elijah Crouch, Olivia Crouch, Corinne Van Nieuwkerk, Chase Stracke and Caylee Fink.
Come and go visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 16, from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. Family will be present to greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 17, at 2:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home chapel. Brother Bart Crouch will officiate. Interment will follow the service in the Dewey City Cemetery.
