Reecie A. Walton, 89, of Bartlesville, died at 10:45 A.M. on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Heritage Villa Nursing Center in Bartlesville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Walton will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Greater First Baptist Church in Bartlesville with Rev. Victor A. Paul officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Friends who wish may call for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home until 8 P.M. on Saturday and Sunday and from 9 A.M. until 8 P.M. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Walton's memory and those who wish may send their contributions to the Greater First Baptist Church, 216 S.E. Tenth Street, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74003.

Reecie A. Walton was born at Coffeyville, Kansas, on May 23, 1927. She attended school in Coffeyville prior to moving with her family to Dewey and then to Lenapah. She later made her home for a brief period at Pueblo, Colorado until returning to Bartlesville where she made her home the rest of her life. She was employed by the Lloyd Rowland family in Bartlesville for over 40 years and they considered her a member of their family. She was married to Maxie "Pete" Walton in Bartlesville on April 5, 1968 and they made their home in Bartlesville. Mr. Walton preceded her in death on December 22, 1997. She was a member of the Greater First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served on the kitchen committee. She was a perpetual mother to multiple generations of her family and others. She recently lived at the Tall Grass Estates where she made many friends until becoming a resident of the Heritage Villa Nursing Center where she continued making friends.

Survivors include her step daughter, Linda Brown of Bartlesville, her step son, Robert Walton of Memphis, Tennessee, two grandchildren, Karen Martin and Edward L. Newton Jr., a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, her God children, Lacey Greer and husband Bob of Newport Coast, California, Sarah Rowland of Exeter, New Hampshire, Lloyd Rowland of San Diego, California and Mary Rowland-Doud and husband James of Charlotte, North Carolina, a host of God grandchildren and God great grandchildren and her longtime best friend and sister, Bette A. Williams. She was preceded in death by her mother, Viola Love Howard, her daughter, Helen Joann Newton, her husband, Maxie "Pete" Walton and her great granddaughter, Shantell Nicole Ishem.
