William Foster Obituary

William Kent Foster passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at 7:30 am in Bartlesville. William Kent Foster was born January 27, 1952, the seventh of eight children born to Warden Francis and Billie Inez (Combs) Foster. "Kent" was born in Ochelata and lived his entire life around the Ochelata-Ramona area. He graduated from the Ramona-Ochelata High School in 1970 where he excelled in basketball, being named Basketball King his Junior and Senior year. He started working for the Totah Telephone Company upon his graduation. He retired in 2007 after working for 37 years with the company.
Kent loved fishing, camping, hunting and spending time with friends and family. He loved to attend his children and grandchildren's activities. He loved being with family. His home-made chicken and noodles was a favorite at family gatherings.
Kent was very active in the Washington County and Nowata County Cherokee organizations serving in several capacities.
Kent was an outgoing person, never meeting a stranger. He was always available to help anyone in need.
Kent married Diana (Di) Kelley on March 6, 1993. She survives the home.
He is survived by a son, Denver Ray Foster, Tulsa and a daughter, Amy Michelle Whitworth (John) of Bixby. Four grandchildren: Dakota, Jaycie and Brooklyn Whitworth of Bixby and Hannah Foster of Nowata. A great granddaughter, Scarlett Rae Baker, one step grandchild, Amber Fields and one step great grandson, Jonah Fields, of Bartlesville.
Two brothers, Larry (Kilcha) Foster of Tulsa and Richard (Diana) Foster of Ochelata. A sister in law, Clara Foster of Ochelata. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Two aunts, Doreen Hawes of Bakersfield, CA, Sue (Roger) Potts of Bartlesville, and one uncle, Calvin (Nelda) Combs of Bakersfield, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Danny, Jerry and Louis, and two sisters: Frances Phillips and Linda Childress.
Services will be at the Bible Holiness Church in Ochelata on Saturday, January 7 with Pastor Bruce Ganze. Burial will be in the Ochelata cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory in Bartlesville.
