Cora Roach Obituary

Cora Louise Roach, 86, of Bartlesville, died Sunday in Dewey.
Cora was born the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Tate) Ellington on June 19, 1930, in Pawnee, OK. She was raised and educated in the Pawnee area and graduated from Yale High School in 1948. Cora knew a young man who was serving in Korea during the Korean War, and on his first day home after his honorable discharge he proposed. Cora was united in marriage with George Washington Roach on April 1, 1953, in Pawnee. They made their home in Bartlesville and Cora was a homemaker while the children were young. They had only two biological children but through the years Cora and George opened their home to many more adopted children. Cora worked for the Bartlesville Public Schools for 18 years as a bus driver; she loved all the kids - at home and on her routes. Her happiest moments were times spent with her loving husband who preceded her in death on December 27, 1990. They shared 38 years on earth together.
Cora was a faithful follower of Christ and a longtime member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bartlesville. When she was younger Cora helped out with the many ministries of the church. Her passions in life centered on her family, babysitting grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cora's hobbies included crocheting, camping and outdoor games, and playing Nintendo, especially Dr. Mario and Zelda. It was widely known that not many could beat her at her favorite games. She loved to watch her favorite game shows while eating her favorite snacks. She often said, "I am not stubborn, just set in my ways" when asked to do something she didn't want to do. She was dearly loved by all that knew her.
Cora is survived by her children, Charles Roach of the home; Ellen Cooper and Kenneth Tate of Bartlesville; Mike Harness and wife of Omaha, AR; Tommy Roach of Hominy; Troy Roach and Tonya, Teddy Roach and Crystal, Crisleah Roach, and Shelly "Sunshine" Liddell, all of Bartlesville; 34 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter Dosha Ann Roach, two brothers Jessie Kirkpatrick and Samuel Tate, and five great grandchildren.
Cora's family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Wednesday, July 20, from 6-8 p.m.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, at the Dewey Cemetery, with Rev. Connie McCray officiating. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared with Cora's family at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
