Doris Berry Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Doris Grice Berry was born to Grady P. and Elsie Mae Grice on Aug. 7, 1934, in Hope Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Berry Jr.; her parents, Grady P. and Elsie Mae Grice; a brother, Robert T. Grice; and great-granddaughter, Camryn E. Simpson. Surviving are her two sons, Thomas "Woodberry" Decker and William "Tom" Decker and wife Debbie, all of Gray's Creek; four grandchildren, Billie and husband Jonathan Savage, Melissa and husband Sam Simpson, Jana Decker and Brian and wife Jennifer Young; and five great-grandchildren, Nikki Savage, Alyssa Savage, Chelsee Robles, Brody Young and Payten Simpson. Doris was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She served in the Women of the Moose for 30 years. Doris helped anyone she could and was a pal to everyone. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to breast cancer research. The family will receive friends today, June 5, 2009, at Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services of Hope Mills from 6 to 8 p.m., with services following at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The family will also receive friends at the home of William "Tom" and Debbie Decker, 4578 Pennystone Drive in Fayetteville and at other times. Services lovingly entrusted to Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services of Hope Mills.
