Nate,
You were an awesome friend, you were somebody who saw the good in people. No matter how nerdy or unpopular they were. You were the first real friend I made after moving to Valrico. I was on leave myself the day you were brought home. I never got to know your family but believe me, I grieved your loss too. I wish I could have comforted them. You were such an amazing young man, and grew to be an even more amazing man. Although we served in different branches, I look at you as a brother. I am forever grateful and indebted for your sacrifice that day in Helmand, as all of us are. I wish you a peaceful eternity, and we will one day meet again.
Much Love Brother.

Safely Home
I am home in heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
I shall rest in God's own land.
There is work still waiting for you.
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth-
You shall rest in God's own land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

Today was a very difficult day. It was a day I had to force myself to get out of the house and to go to a Veteran's day service. Deanna, Alessio and I went to visit you at the cemetary and it was hard. I finally cried a bit while I know is good to cry I'm so afraid to let it out cause I'm never sure I'll be able to stop. I miss your smiling face and listening to you play the guitar for me. I miss our nights of just sitting and talking about insignificant things that now seem so significant. I'll never forget your sweet smile, the silly things that have come out of your mouth in an effort to keep me laughing. You had a one of a kind sense of humor and I miss it all. I miss everything about you. I know you wouldn't want us to sit and cry over you but it cant be helped at times. Know that I will forever love and miss you and YOU ARE MY HERO. I'm envious of where you are and cannot wait for the day Jesus brings us all back together again forever.

I'm so sorry for your loss and as a father, I can't imagine the tremendous pain you must surely feel. But I also know, in the deepest recesses of my soul that your son set an example for all of us to follow, that his sacrifice for me and all Americans was not in vain and his service to his nation inspires me. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy and know how grateful I am for your son and his service. May the Lord hold you with his tender arms today.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.
I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you .

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to LCpl Nathaniel (Nate) Schultz our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Nate And to Nate it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Nate, you are a brave Marine Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,335 Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Nate’s family and loved ones. Semper Fi !

Please know how Deeply Sorry I am, to learn of the loss of LCpl Nathaniel Schultz.
As a parent, who has lost a daughter suddenly and having lost a brother to war...
I am aware of the deep and devastating pain that you are experiencing.
The overwhelming heartache, that seems to surface through our shock, as the time passes.
In the days ahead, you will be going through unimaginable grief, please hang on to your Faith and know that you will get through this.
May the memories of your Brave Young Marine, remain in your heart always and give you strength through the difficult days and may Nathaniel, rest safely now, in the Loving Care of God and know that he Will Never Be Forgotten.
I am the sister, of such a 19 year young Hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.
Never my soul, still the song,
Of wounded hearts, their loved one gone,
Of him who gave his life, for me,
That I might live, in liberty.
Sincerely hoping that you can feel the thoughts of caring and support that surround you today and in the days ahead, as this Grateful Country Mourns with you, for Someone Very Precious to you, Who Is A True American Hero to all of us.
