Thank you all for your kind words about Dean. He was a loving and caring brother. He used to beat me in chess! It is nice to read the comments and know how Dean was with other people. He is loved ❤ and missed. Rest In Peace Dean.

The Wachusett Chess Club in Fitchburg, of which Dean Turra was an active member all through the 1980s and into the 1990s, sends its deepest condolences to the Turra family on the passing of one of its most dedicated members. Dean was a life member of the U.S. Chess Federation and actively participated in nationally rated tournaments at the Wachusett CC, when it met at the St. Joseph Club in the Cleghorn section of Fitchburg many years ago. He was sorely missed when he retired from over-the-board chess competition more than 20 years ago. But Wachusett CC veterans still remembered Dean as a fierce competitor and one of the club's most loyal members. May he rest in peace.
