As the kids grew older, she reentered the workforce in the early 70's at Apollo Coney Island. She worked as a waitress and manager until her retirement. She enjoyed working for Bill Rufus and loved the staff at the Apollo. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Regardless if they were traveling, have dinner together, shopping or watching a movie it made her smile. During the fall she enjoyed traveling, u north and seeing the fall colors. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Flint. She had put her trust in Jesus and knew him as her Lord and Savior. Through the years, she met many people that made a difference in her life and she cherished their friendship Jean, Diane, Jackie, Pauline and Duane. The family wants to thank Heritage Manor Staff for loving mom, McLaren Hospice Staff for taking care of mom. I Pray my Lord Jesus Christ be with Patty and her family through this hard time. May Jean rest in peace in heaven, may your amazing and loving spirt be safe within the loving arms of the lord. I'm so blessed to have been a part of this family for so many years. Jean will continue to watch over her family as she always did and heaven has just received one true angel. I left michigan 32 years ago but when I close my eyes I still see Patty my best friend sitting in that 7th grade classroom telling me how she could talk Humphrey Bogart and did I want to hear? From that moment in time we became best friends. I will charish all the times we all spent together and how wonderful of a women your mother was. Bless you all, Love, Sherril Zupp (Ptacek)

I worked with Jean for four years at Apollo and she was a wonderful, kind hearted woman. She shared a few milestones with me and was always there to give advise. My condolences to the family although I only met Shannon & Andy; your entire family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Jean will be greatly missed.

I first met Jean when my husband and I started dating over 20 years ago. When we got married, she was my first neighbor and what a wonderful neighbor she was. Such a kind and loving woman she was. My husband always comments how beautiful she was to him as a child growing up. I am grateful to have known her and her children. To her children, always remember how much you were loved by your mom and she will always be watching over you. She is in a much better place and her pain is gone forever. She is in God's loving arms.
My love to you all.

Jean was like a Grandma to me as her grand daughter Angela and I have been best friends and 'sisters' for 21 1/2 years. She always put everyone before herself. She was such an amazing person and I am lucky to have been one of her 'other' babies. Her face always lit up when she got to spend time with the ones that she loved. Rest in peace, Gram. Take care of Lissy for us until we meet again. I love you and will always keep a special place in my heart for you. I'll keep sis company and make sure she's ok until we meet again.

How do I begin to find the words to tell the world what my mother meant to me? I would need a book to write all that she was as a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She loved life. She always put everyone before herself. She never complained and made the best of every situation. Regardless that she was hurting, she would comfort others....especially her family.Although my mom could not do for herself these last few years, she would try to help me. It was hard for her not being able to do what she used to do, but it hurt her more that she could not help me or other people. She was the most giving person that I knew. She poured her life into her kids and family. My mom will forever be in my heart. I will think of her so many times and will miss her so very much.
