I've known Pete since high school thanks to my friendship with his sister Becky. In later years we crossed paths again & were co- workers at Meijer along with his brother Jim. I am so saddened to hear of his passing & my heart goes out to his family! Pete was well liked & missed when he parted ways with Meijer. But one thing is for certain - he will ALWAYS be fondly remembered!

Pete.....simply put, WAS my best friend. When we first met back in 1990, little did I realize how long our close friendship would last. From our golfing trips, going to Red Wings games, from going to concerts, talking about music, the trips, and vacations, to Myrtle Beach, Pete has been a significant part of my life. Recently, I had the chance to join Pete and Danny recently at lunch. Most of the time, we just laughed and talked about old times. Pete was especially proud of Erin, and he spoke about watching her graduate and of how smart she is. When I was informed today of his passing, I was at a loss. May god bless you, Pete Schaenzer.

Pete was the best store director for MEIJER....he was respected by door #52 and missed when he left. A month ago I ran into him at store #24 and with out seeing his face I knew his voice. We chatted for 20 minutes and he shared with me how proud he was of his children and bragged excitedly about his grand kids....I am truly stunned by this need and horribly saddened...prayers for his family.

Pete was my husbands boss a few years back. My husband spoke of him almost daily of how much he learned from him not just at work but with life's obstacles as well. Through him I always remembered him as a "truly" good man with a big heart. He spoke of his children so much when my husband became a father, guiding him through the early milestones. He was blessed to have met him during presence here. Heaven has another great man. Praying for his family.

So incredibly saddened by this loss. Through the 24 years I've known Peter, I watched him be a tremendously loving & helpful son to Jack & Nancy, a terrific brother to Marta & the rest of the Schaenzer clan, a great father to Danny & Erin, and finally a fantastic grandfather to Malachi & Addison. Marta & the kids loved him, and I'll always appreciate how in recent years he would make the time to really talk serious politics with Marta & throw a baseball with my boy Matthew. I'll always remember having a good time celebrating New Years on Y2K with him - including the part where he got cut-off by the bartender after doing a round-off cartwheel in the middle of the crowd on the dance floor right around midnight. Always quick to come up with a smart & funny comment, he made the Schaenzer family gatherings & holidays more fun. The Farbers will really miss you Pete.
