Herbert Kenneth "Den" Gates, Jr., 86 passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012. Herb was born in San Francisco, CA on February 5, 1926 to the late Herbert Kenneth Gates and Maria Theresa Borthick Gates.

He retired from the US Navy as a Lieutenant Commander.

His family includes his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Dupree Gates; his children, Anne Dupree Gates, Christen Elizabeth Gates, Farley G. Gates and his wife, Carolyn, Page Gates Sullivan and her husband, Daniel, and Anthony Dupree Gates and his wife, Nicole; a sister, Margaret Gates Ruff; grandchildren, Page Elizabeth Gates-George, Margaret Clark Gates-George, Clark Alexander Gates-George, Devin Farley Gates, Victoria Considine Gates, David Gates Sullivan, Connor McRitchie Gates and Ryan Dupree Gates and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date in New Hampshire.

Arrangements by Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, Melbourne 724-2222.
