Anna Hastings Obituary
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday (June 10), at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home, 181 N. Main St.
Funeral Services will be 9 a.m. on Monday (June 11) in the funeral home and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in her memory, may be made to De Sales High School, Our Lady of Peace Parish or to a charity of one's choice.
Anna Marie was born on February 4, 1920, in Gen eva, and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret McGowan Tolan. She was a lifelong Geneva resident and a 1938 graduate of DeSales High School. On September 10, 1949, she married Stephen F. Hastings. She was employed at several businesses in Geneva including Geneva Forge, American Can Co., Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and retired from St. Stephen's Rectory. For many years on Election Day, she worked at the West Street School Polling District. She was a member and past Grand Regent of the Court Annunciation Catholic Daughters of America, and a member of Council #272 Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and Mother's Club of St. Stephen's. Anna Marie was a daily communicant of Our Lady of Peace Parish. As a devout Catholic and proud Irishwoman, she was honored to have marched in the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade with her cousin in the 1970's. She was devoted to her family, and especially to her grandchildren.
Anna Marie is survived by her children, Stephen (Joan) Hastings, William (Maria) Hastings, Peggie (Robert) Pollino all of Geneva; four grandchildren, Heather, David, Kaitlin and Daniel Hastings; several cousins including Sister Walter Anne O'Malley SSJ of Rochester.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen in 1998 and her brother PFC William Tolan.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always. Aunt Anna Marie, we have fond memories of you and Uncle Stephan because you were always so nice to our family when we visited Geneva. Reading your obituary again reminds me that God doesn't make people like you very often. You broke the mold with your giving and community service. May you forever rest in peace.

I have so many memories of Anna Marie. I'm 75 and she was a baby setter when my mother would have to go out for grocery shopping. I was nicked name "Butch" after her brother. We all now have another soul to pray to.
