George Ables Obituary

GEORGE W. ABLES JR., 69, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at Canterbury Nursing & Rehab-ilitation in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a Firefighter for the Fort Wayne Fire Depart-ment for 29 1/2 years, and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Debra M. Ables of Fort Wayne; daughter, Judi (Bryan) Mathieson of New Haven; step-daughter, Donna (Tim) O'Grady of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Megan Britton, Cooper Nigh, Colbi Nigh, Grady Mathieson; one great-grandson; mother, Helen Ables; brothers, David "Bob" (Marlene) Ables, and Thomas (Jan) Ables, all of Fort Wayne. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500 S. Fairfield Ave., with calling one hour prior at the church. Fr. Daryl Rybicki officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave., with Vigil at 4:30 p.m. Monday. Burial in Catholic Cemetery. Memorials to Canterbury Nursing & Rehabilitation 300 Hall.

I have very fond memories, of George and will always keep them with me. Central Catholic High was the greatest time in my life. I will always cherish my fellow classmates.
