FLOYD E. HERDMAN

FLOYD E. HERDMAN, 90, of Huntertown, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he had lived in Hunter town his whole life. He retired in 1989 from IPFW after 18 years, and was a charter member of Our Hope Lutheran Church - Huntertown, DAV lifetime member, V.F.W. lifetime member, Seniors Enjoying Life. He was a veteran of World War II where he was a Purple Heart, U.S. Medal of honor and the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal of Honor recipient. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Dolores E. Herdman of Huntertown; children, Karen (Ralph) Noll of Auburn, Steve (Jeanine) Herdman of Maumee, Ohio, Dawn (James) Carl of Fort Wayne, and Julie (Dewaine) King of Wolcottville; a brother, Robert Herdman of Fort Wayne; a sister, Gloria (Richard) O'Connor of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Blanche (Gebert) Herdman; a brother, Virgil Herdman; and sisters, Doris Rediger and Mary Ann Rarick. Service is 10 a.m. Monday at Our Hope Lutheran Church, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Joe Fichtner officiating. Calling also from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.
