EVELYN L. OETTING

EVELYN L. OETTING, 78, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, 3:27 p.m., at Lutheran Hospital. Born Jan. 28, 1932, in Adams County, Ind., she was the daugher of Elizabeth L. (Kirchner) and the late William E. Macke. She married Henry O. Oetting Dec. 18, 1953, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble, they just celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary. She retired in 2003, with seventeen years of service, as the secretary for St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen. She had also worked at Lincoln Life. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen where she served on the Altar Guild and was a past member of the church choir and The Lutheran Chorale. Surviving are her husband, Henry O. Oetting of Decatur; sons, Carey W. (Camille) Oetting and Ronald E. Oetting both of Decatur; mother, Elizabeth Macke of Decatur; brother, Frederick Macke of Decatur; sister, Ruth (Curtis) Lee of North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Bryan Oetting, Jennifer Garringer, Brett Oetting, Doug Oetting, Corey Oetting, Alyssa Corral, Eli Hill, and Carly Oetting; and five great-grandchildren, Leah Oetting, Kevin Oetting, Lexi Garringer, Chevelle Oetting and Jordan Strickler. She was also preceded in death by brother, Richard Macke; and granddaughter, Brooke Marie Oetting. Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with visitatin one hour prior. Pastor John Dreyer officiating. Visitation also from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bingen.
