In loving memory of an iconic woman, Irene -- a staunch friend to Abby, my mother, and an inspiration to me, of a person with courage to stand up and be counted when it was needed. Indeed, a life well lived. Thank you for the memories.

We will miss her. She was such a big part of the peace movement here in Costa Rica. Truely, I expected her to go on forever. . .and I think she will. That's her legacy to us peace people. Thanks Irene, for friendship and inspiration.

I will never be able to put into words what this woman meant to me. I'm so sorry I didn't get to spend more time with her. Time and money has always prevented travel, even to local places. :( I collect the family genealogy and would be more than interested in talking to anyone outside of the Alice & Jim Burgoon family who is related to my GG (Great Grandma Irene). I love you, Irene. Thanks for teaching me to summersault when you were 79!

My heart goes out to the family. I will have to wait until I meet such a wonderful role model. I know she will be missed. We will all remember how she helped so many with just her presence. We will always love you Aunt Irene. Peace.

What an amazing Lady, so glad I got to know Aunt Irene. Will never forget the first family reunion I went to and she took teh family to the cemetary to tell the family history. Her headstone was there and knelt right down and said who wants my picture while I'm on top? Then of course she proceeded to jump straight up unassisted and she was already in her 90's. Aunt Irene will be missed.

My Grandmother! A wonderful human being, an example and a courageous woman! Fought for what she believed in and never dwindled at adversity right up to her last breath! You will surely be missed Nana! Rest in Piece!
