I know this site will be taken down tomorrow, but I still wanted to say that I can't help but to think of you. Things aren't going to be the same and I've realized that, but still have yet to accept it. I really miss you.

I had the distinct pleasure of serving with Travis during our OIF 05-07 deployment with 2nd Battalion 8th Marines. Travis carried a spirit about him that did not matter what was going on he could make those surrounding him forget long enough to laugh. My prayers go out to the Brake family as he will never be forgotten.

I met Travis when I was an exchange student in Ft.Wayne(2000)! He made my time being there one of the best times in my life with his charm and sense of humor. He was such a great guy. And I'm so grateful that I had the chance to meet him.

And through all these years since then we managed to keep in touch. And now that I learned he is gone..I just can't believe it.

My thoughts go out to his family. I'm very sorry for your loss.

WELL I AM SO SORRY FOR THE LOSS OF SUCH A FINE MAN/FATHER SON I WAS TRAVIS NEIGHBOR FOR ABOUT HALF OF MY CHILDHOOD I REMEMBER THE DAYS HE WOULD DRAG ME OUT OF THE HOUSE AND SAY LETS PLAY GI JOE AND BRING OUT HIS BAZOOKA AND WEAR ALL HIS CAMOUFLAGE AND HIDE IN THE TREE TO ATTACK ME. MAN THAT BOY WAS SO INTO THE SOLDIER ERA. IT WAS CUTE BUT ALSO SO ANNOYING SINCE I AM A GIRL. BUT NO MATTER WHAT NOW I LOOK AT HIM AND I LOOK BACK ON THE TIMES I WANTED TO HIT HIM OR JUST BE MAD AT HIM AND I LAUGH. HE WAS REALLY REALLY INTO THAT AND NOW I KNOW WHY BECAUSE HE ENDED UP BEING JUST LIKE MIKE AND A WONDERFUL ROLE MODEL AND MARINE WHO SERVED OUR COUNTRY AND FOUGHT FOR US .WOW ITS A REALLY SAD SAD TIME AND THIS IS REALLY HARD FOR ALL OF US. WE WILL ALL BE HERE AND PRAY AND SOB WITH YOU SORRY I HAD TO SAY HELLO AND GOODBYE LIKE THIS
WE LOVE YOU TRAV AND FAMILY YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BUT ALSO YOU WILL BE GREATLY REMEMBERED AS YOU CAN TELL FROM ALL THE WONDERFUL THINGS PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY ABOUT YOU
LOVE ASHLIE

Travis, you will be missed. I'm very sorry I can't be there for your family right now, but I'm doing what I know you did very well and that is serving your country. I talked to my mom just today and she told me you had passed and its the only thing i could think of even while i was out on mission. My prayers are with you and your family and as are the prayers of my platoon. You will not be forgotten. With love from Iraq

Travis was a good Marine and a great friend. Always the life of the party, he lightened the mood wherever he went. Travis was my room mate for over a year, and a close friend of mine. Whether in combat or back at home, there is no one I would rather have at my side than Sgt Travis Brake. He was an amazing man and will be sorely missed.

I didn't know Travis, what I do know is that he served my country, for that he is loved and appreciated. May he rest in peace. A friend asked for prayers for his family, they have them. I am so very sorry and I pray the Brake family can find comfort, strength, and peace during this sorrowful time.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Mike, Maureen and Family

Last Friday I had just returned from the hospital upon learning of the passing of my wife's brother, when I heard the news of Travis's passing. Words can not describe the flood of grief I felt in that moment. As my family grieves your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I have known Mike from our cockpit hobby now for at least 4 years and although I have never met him in the flesh, he and his family are dear friends.

Dear friends, I am so very sorry for your loss. I wish you all strength, love and future happiness at this difficult time.

Your friends in Utah,

To my brother Mike and his family,
Mike you have been and always will be a wonderful father to Dustin, Travis, Cody and Tabitha. Travis was very lucky to have a dad like you in his very short time on this earth and I am very lucky to have had him for a nephew. I am so proud of all those kids. You and Mo have done a wonderful job rasing them.
The pain you and your family is going thru right now no words can describe, but just know that my family is thinking of you and you are in our prayers. God Bless You All

My deepest sympathies to you all. Words are simply insignificant and seemingly meaningless at times like these. All we can hope for is to just get through the days to come so we can once again remember all the joy that the person who has passed brought us. My marine, Chris, is with you now. I hope he brings you some comfort. I know he truely valued Brake's friendship.

Even though I was only Xylina's aunt and godmother, you also asked me for her hand in marriage. Such detail and class! My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I miss you.

I recently read how important the dash is between your birth date and death date. Travis' dash in life was so important to so many. He will be long remembered by the many that loved and knew him for his dedication in protecting our country. I will also remember him as the child who took on things that children should be protected from. I knew him better than he would have ever known as a friend of his dear mom, who kept me up on his accomplishments, whereabouts and trials. I find it difficult to find words with any kind of comfort for his family and friends. I simply have to ask that God give them continued strength and comfort and thank God for the gift of Travis for the time given in his dash. Never forgotten and remembered with a smile.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember the first day I met Travis in Kindergarten. I just loved how he wore camouflage to school. He has always been a great friend to myself as well as many others. He is a hero and will live on in the hearts of each person he met. He made an impact in my life, and I will continue to spread his legacy on to others. Our prayers are with you and God Bless.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
