Robert Pelletier Obituary

CHICAGO, Ill. — Robert C. Pelletier, 47, of Chicago, Ill., passed away peacefully after an extended illness on March 5, 2012, at Northwestern Hospital.

Robert is survived by his father, Richard Pelletier, Sr., of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., mother, Judith Niedzial, and brothers, Richard Pelletier, Jr., Rodney Pelletier and Randall Pelletier, of Meriden, Conn.

Robert was a graduate of Connecticut State University with a degree in electrical engineering.

He lived in Asia for 24 years (Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines). He was fluent in Mandarin Chinese and had knowledge of many dialects from Southeast Asia. Thousands in the Philippines have clean water today due to Bob's work in the most remote areas of that country. Bob designed two homes in Asia, both of which were featured in Architectural Digest. He collected Asian antiques and restored them and sold them in many galleries around the U.S.

Bob was a world traveler. He appreciated all things Asian. He felt at home throughout Asia, where he loved to explore land and sea. He would visit remote jungles, small towns, big cities and beaches, and loved to snorkel. He loved things of beauty. He loved to design homes, rooms, and gardens. In the summer between eighth grade and freshman year of high school, he designed his first garden behind the family home.

A memorial service will be held at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, on Friday, June 15, at 10 a.m. Committal prayers and burial will be at Notre Dame Cemetery in Springvale, followed by a reception and luncheon at the Heald Family Center at 574 Main Street in Springvale.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home.
