Audrey Gable Obituary

KITTERY, Maine ; Audrey Ethel Gable, 76, of 5 Ridgewood Drive in Kittery, died on Nov. 13, 2008, at her home, following a period of failing health.

Born in Caribou, Maine, on March 15, 1932, she was the oldest of five children to William and Ruby (Smith) Ayotte. She was raised in and attended local schools in Caribou, graduating from Caribou High School in the Class of 1950.

While serving her country as a member of the U.S. Navy, she met and later in August of 1953, married her loving husband of 51 years, Robert L. Gable.

In 1960, she and her husband settled in Kittery, where they raised a family. Her first love was unquestionably her family, staying at home while they were growing up and enjoying time spent in later years with her grand and great-grandchildren. After her children were grown, she worked for a time at Erie Scientific and Watts Fluid Air.

She enjoyed crafting and giving to her family and friends works of counted cross stitch and was always the one who preserved family photographs. She truly enjoyed time spent with her sister, Joyce, who lived just around the corner, whether shopping or dining or just being together, the time they shared was truly special. She was very skilled with her computer, chatting online with friends she had made far and wide, gaming together and meeting others in person, she enjoyed crafting greeting cards and sharing them with others.

Audrey is survived by her children, a son, Robert and his wife, Katherine Gable, of Wells; daughters, Lynn and her husband, Joe Shaffer, of Kittery, Patricia Kimball and her companion, Tom Sullivan, Judith Pirini and her companion, David Ouellet, of North Berwick, Maine, and Susan and her husband, Brian Labrecque, of Milton, N.H.; grandchildren, Jennifer Gable, Michelle Therrien, Justin Smith, Joseph and Richard Pirini, Jessie Gable, and Nick and Sarah Arrain; great-grandchildren, Alexa and Ray Therrien, Calvin Ouellette, Connor Therrien and Jayleigh Pirini. She is also survived by her sisters, Ruth and her husband, Euclide Plourde, of Kittery, Joyce Jackson of Kittery and William and his wife, Charlene Ayotte, of Kittery.

Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Robert; a son, William, and a brother, Keith Ayotte.

A funeral will be held on Monday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, with the Rev. Elizabeth Hoffman, officiating, with a time of refreshment and sharing at her daughter, Lynn and her husband, Joe's home following the committal service at Brooks Memorial Park in Eliot.

Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home.
