Joe Shafer Obituary

LEE — Joe Charles Shafer, 79, of Layne Drive, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at his residence with his family by his side.

Joe was born on July 25, 1931, in Smithville, Texas, the son of Joseph C. and Mary D. (Crittendon) Shafer.

Joe served his country proudly in U.S. Air Force and retired after 22 years of service.

He loved playing horseshoes, holding the title of NE Champion for four years, and playing softball throughout his military career.

He is survived by his son, Joe L. Shafer and his wife, Jennifer, of Farmington; his daughter, Brenda Clark and her husband, Robert, of Grafton, Mass.; his sister, Nicki Beckett of Texas; and his five grandchildren, Josh Shafer, Jamie Martineau, Silas Gund, Cody and Jessica Clark; and his great-grandchildren, Natasha and Mackenzie Gaedtke and Makayla Clark.

Friends and family may call from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, with a memorial service to follow at 6 p.m. at the Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Road, Route 4, Lee, N.H., with the Rev. Maren Tirabassi officiating.
